New Age African

Written by Danny Hanson | Sat, Jun 7, 2008

Poems

My people beat on drums
We swallow chewing gums
They call us ignorant
But they know we vigilant
They’ve been behind us
But first place doesn’t find us
Now they’re centuries ahead
Our leaders beg them for bread
We have killed each other
Demeaned sister and brother
We have lost our birthright
Taken away without a fight
We asked to be set free
We screamed like an angry banshee
Then, they set us free
Promising,” you’ll see. You’ll see”
And, oh yes indeed
Our greed makes us bleed
However, here comes a generation
Bound to decipher the situation
They speed up the chase
Hungry for first place
They beat those they learn from
Harder than the skins of the “fromtomfrom”
They are so scary
Any sight of them is blurry
Making progress from the hem
I am one of them
Emancipated from mental slavery
My blood concentrated with bravery
Homosapien woman or man
I am a new age African
