The Oldest Object in My Home

The oldest object in my home is my grandmother’s wedding dress.

My grandmother gave it to my mother before her wedding, and told her to pass it along to her daughter. It was such a gorgeous dress, with dozens of shining diamonds-like stones that sparkled like the stars in a moonlit night. It was too loose down from the stomach to the feet, with complete sleeves, and a narrow opening around the neck.

That dress easily tells of its own time, sixty years ago. Thus, looking at that dress is like looking back in time. Pictures of my mother’s wedding say that the dress was just made for her, as she was just a little thinner than my grandmother.

But I think it would never fit me, because it’s long and very loose. My figure is definitely not the same as my grandmother’s or even my mother’s, besides, it’s not my favorite type. I do like the dress, but wearing it on my wedding day would make me look not the bride but the wedding cake.

So emotional .. yet so simple .. with an unmistakable sense of humor .. how could u do that ?
I could see the dress, feel the nostalgia and feel the sense of loss .. yet I could feel ur silent faith in the future .. whatever tomorrow shall bring .. u have those beautiful memories that u shall cherish forever …
    Way to go Marwa
